Dorothy Akdins

Mrs. Dorothy Cline Adkins, 83, of Statesville, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at Gordon Hospice House. Mrs. Adkins was born in Davidson County on January 18, 1930 and was the daughter of the late LaRoy Cline and Lois Boovey Cline. She attended Iredell County schools and on June 12, 1946 she was married Kenneth Steele Adkins, who preceded her in death on May 15, 2012. She was a member of Race Street Methodist Church and she was formerly employed with Stimpson Hosiery where she was in the sewing dept. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Barry S. Adkins and her sister, Margie Cline Campbell. Mrs. Adkins is survived by her son Brent N. Adkins (Cindy) of Statesville, NC, and her daughter-in-law Donna Adkins of Oak Island, NC. She is also survived by three granddaughters, Amy Adkins of Statesville and Shelley A. Houston (Michael) of Concord, NC, and Emily A. Little (Tate) of Statesville and one grandson, Richard S. Adkins (Leann) of Troutman. She is further survived by a sister, Rosie Cline Tarlton (John) of Burlington, NC, ten great grandchildren, Ashley Mills, Hannah and Matt Warren, Carson Sain and Anna Little, Noah and Lily Houston and Rachel, Andrew and Aidan Adkins along with one great-great-grandchild, Landon Allen. Funeral services for Mrs. Adkins will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday, November 30, 2013 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Paul Childers officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 until 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery.
