Doris Ingram

August 31, 1933 — January 28, 2019

Lucy Doris Rhyne Ingram, 85, of Statesville, passed away Monday, January 28, 2019 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. She was born in Alexander County on August 31, 1933 to the late George Henry and Lucy Velma Lowe Rhyne.



Doris was a graduate of Stony Point High School, Mitchell College, and Appalachian State Teachers College. On July 16, 1961, she married George "Edgar" Ingram, who survives. They shared over 57 years of marriage before her passing. She was a teacher who taught Business Education in the Davidson and Iredell County School Systems. Doris also taught at Celeste Henkel and South Iredell High School. She was a member of the NCEA, NEA, Appalachian Alumnus, and served 15 years as a volunteer for the American Red Cross. Doris was a member of New Sterling ARP Church but attended Bethany Presbyterian Church with her husband. She loved travelling with her husband and visited shut-ins on a regular basis. Doris was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be dearly missed.



Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Kelly Rhyne.



Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Edgar; a daughter, Amy Ingram Koonce of Raleigh; and a granddaughter, Kimberly Koonce Harr (Tim) of Statesville; niece, Lynn Lopez; nephew, Mike Hamby; and numerous cousins.



Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Bethany Presbyterian Church with Rev. Sue Moore and Rev. Tim Watson officiating. There will be a private graveside service held at Oakwood Cemetery prior to the funeral service. The family will visit with friends at Nicholson Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Wednesday evening. (Jan. 30)



The family would like to thank Betty Jo Privette and Brenda Haggerty for the loving care they provided Doris.
