Doris Bennett Hallet, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on March 27, 2025, at the Gordon Hospice House. Born on July 1, 1936, in Staten Island, New York, Doris touched the lives of many throughout her journey.
Doris dedicated over 13 years of her life to owning and operating a restaurant in Pennsylvania, where she was known for her warmth and hospitality. She was an active member of the Garden Club in Pennsylvania and took great joy in her involvement with the PTA, as well as serving as a Cub Scout Leader. Her faith was also a cornerstone in her life, as she was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Tannersville, PA. However, her greatest accomplishment remained her unwavering commitment to her family. She loved her family more than anything, and her legacy as a devoted wife and mother was a source of pride and joy throughout her life.
In 2014, Doris moved to North Carolina, where she continued to embrace her love for family and community.
Doris's proudest moments were centered around her role as a "Mom-Mom" and "Amah" as well as her interests in gardening and canning. She relished the joy of entertaining friends with tea and cookies, creating wonderful memories filled with laughter and warmth.
She is survived by her son, Dean Hallet (Kathleen); her daughter, Kim Butz; three grandchildren, Jennifer Hallet, Robert T. Hallet (Kara), and Jeffrey Butz (Tessa); and four great-grandchildren, Leo Hallet, Landon Hallet, Koda Butz, and Westlynn Butz. Doris also held a special place in her heart for her dear friend, Theresa Barba, whom she thought of as a daughter.
Doris is preceded in death by her father, Charles Bennett; her mother, Alma Johnson Bennett; her husband, Robert N. Hallet; and two brothers, Everett Bennett and Charles "Joe" Bennett.
