Donna Kay Barbee

Donna Kay Barbee, age 70, of Trinity, NC, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family. Born on October 5, 1951, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lawson Ussery and Sarah Adeline Guy Ussery.

Kay had a passion for cooking and truly enjoyed the Holidays, especially cooking for Thanksgiving. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who cherish spending time with her family. Her grandchildren and great-granddaughter were the loves of her life. Kay taught her grandsons word search and cross word puzzles before they could even read.

In addition to her parents, Robert Lawson and Sarah Adeline Ussery, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jan Privette. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 37 years, Gary Barbee; daughter, Amanda King and her husband, Matthew; grandchildren, Lilly Caceres (Eric Ashburn), Heaven Caceres, Matthew King, Jr., and Mark King; great granddaughter, Kiara Ashburn; and her brother, Robert Lawson, Jr.

A Celebration of Kay's life will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, August 27, 2022, at New Salem Baptist Church with Pastor Paul Kirk, II officiating.
