Donald Lee Milstead

Donald Lee (Don) Milstead of Taylorsville Highway, Statesville, passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 after an extended illness. He was born on November 5, 1928 in Alexander County and was preceded in death by his parents Claude and Lena Milstead and one sister, Jessie Rose (Rosie) Teague.



He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Julia Laverne (Judy) Milstead, a daughter, Donna Milstead Blackwelder (Davis) of Madison, Alabama, a son, David (Dave) Milstead of Greensboro, N.C., two granddaughters, Julie Blackwelder Holly (Mike) and Amy Blackwelder Hamilton (Matt) both of Birmingham, Alabama, along with four great grandchildren.



Don was long known as the proprietor of Front Street Barber Shop in Statesville and for the past 25 years as a local barber in the Monticello community. He attended Monticello Baptist Church and was a member of Front Street Baptist Church. Don was known for his generosity and kindness to others, his jovial demeanor, his commitment to his family and as an avid fan of basketball and baseball.



Family visitation will be held at Monticello Baptist Church on Saturday, September 29th at 10:00 A.M. with the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Graveside services will follow at Iredell Memorial Park.
