Donald Bruce Coffey

Donald "Don" Bruce Coffey, 87, of Hickory and formerly of Statesville, died Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Frye Regional Medical Center.



Don was born in Lacon, Illinois on April 5, 1931 to the late Charles and Myrtle Nichols Coffey. He attended Lees-McRae College and proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. He retired as manager of the Statesville Theater Corporation and was a member of First ARP Church where he had served as an Elder and Deacon. Don enjoyed reading, being outdoors, going places and talking to people, as he never met a stranger. He loved his granddaughters and activities with the Marine Corp League.



On August 14, 1958 he married the former Berlyn West, who survives. Also surviving are 2 sons; Tim (Debbie) and Mark (Leslie), 5 granddaughters, Roxanne, Jillian, Alexis, Carrie Ruth and Leigh Ann Coffey.



Funeral Services for Mr. Coffey will be held Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 10:00 am at First ARP Church with the Rev. Phil McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at 4:00 in Cruso UMC Church Cemetery in Cruso, NC with Rev. John Parks officiating. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 at Nicholson Funeral Home.
