Mr. Donald Avery Goforth, 88, of Statesville, died Saturday, February 25, 2017 at his home. Born in Iredell County on December 10, 1928, he was a son of the late Arthur Z. Goforth and Margaret Lorena Douglas Goforth. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Roche' Godfrey Goforth, a brother, Arthur (Jack) Goforth, a sister-in-law, Helen Goforth and step children, Peggy Lamberth and J. C. Webber. Mr. Goforth served in the U. S. Army during World War II. And was retired from the U. S. Postal Service having served as a clerk, Carrier and retired as the route carrier for the former Route 8 of Statesville. He was a member of Christ Boulevard United Methodist Church. Survivors include a brother, John Douglas (J.D.) Goforth, an uncle, David E. Douglas, sisters-in-law, Jeanette Goforth and Betty Godfrey and a step daughter, Patricia Webber and a step son-in-law, Donald Lamberth, along with a number of nieces and nephews. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Larry Thompson officiating. The family will greet friends at the cemetery immediately following the service. Full Military Rites will be presented by the Iredell County Veterans Council Burial Detail.
