Don Nmn Laws

Mr. Don Laws, 82, of Statesville, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Davis Regional Medical Center. Born in Iredell County on June 11, 1932 he was the son of the late Reed and Octavia Albea Laws. He attended Harmony School and on November 19, 1951 was married to Nancy Johnson Laws, who survives. He worked for Southern Screw and Farley Industries for 34 years and then worked at Statesville Stain Glass for 20 years before retiring. He was a member of Christ Boulevard United Methodist Church for many years. He served on the Administrative Board, was an Usher, Softball Coach, Youth Counselor and for 22 years was a Scout Master. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy and Ben Laws, along with one sister, Helen Parker. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nancy Johnson Laws, a son, Robert L. Laws (Susan) of Great Valley, VA; foster son, Doug M. Baity of Statesville, three grandchildren, Hannah R. Laws of Alexandria, VA, Aaron M. Laws of Boston, Mass and Shayne Baity of Statesville. He is futher survived by special daughters, Gayle Ballard of Hickory, Sherry Boggs of Stony Point, Sue York of Harmony and Rhonda Southers of Mooresville. A service to celebrate the life of Don Laws will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Christ Boulevard United Methodist Church with Rev. Ron Doub and Rev. Joe Parker officiating. The family will visit with friends on Saturday, at the church from 2:00-3:00 pm. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be David York, Lynn Laws, Mark Parker, Craig Laws, Robert Boggs, Steve Huynh, Chris Southers and Richard Robbins. Invited to be seated as an honorary group will be Robert and Fernette Eley, Jerry and Barbara Goble, Norman and Aileen Powell, Thomas and Jean Parker, Frank and Lib Patterson, Harold Pendergrass, Gary Jolly and James and Bessie Johnson. Flowers will be accepted and memorials may be made to Christ Boulevard United Methodist Church, 1947 East Broad St., Statesville, NC 28625.
