Dollie Hedrick

Dollie Stewart Hedrick walked through Heaven’s Gates on March 31 , 2024, to celebrate her 89th birthday and Resurrection Sunday with her Lord Jesus. She was born in Iredell County on March 31, 1935, to Thomas Stewart and Ella Moose Stewart. Dollie was the proud matriarch of 5 generations of strong women, and the devoted wife to the late Clyde Edvin Hedrick for 61 years. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Marilyn Hedrick, son, Ray Todd Hedrick, and brothers and sisters. Left behind to cherish her memory is her daughter, Martha Hedrick, granddaughter, Pamela (Bryan) Johnson, of Wilkesboro, NC, great granddaughter, Deanna (Esteban) Ocampo, great great granddaughter, Analía Ocampo, and multiple nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, and friends. Dollie was passionate about many things, but chief among them was her love for her savior Jesus Christ. She learned to play the piano at the age of six, and could be found playing the piano for the Lord at Providence Church of the Living God, where she was a charter member. In addition to playing the piano for the church, she also passionately taught Sunday School for many years. Dollie loved her family and loved her neighbor as herself. She never met a stranger, and never passed up an opportunity to help someone in need. Passionate about animals, she loved feeding every bird, cat, and raccoon she could see, especially the cardinals. Dollie loved to travel, particularly to the Outer Banks, where she loved to fish. She graduated from Celeste Henkel in 1953 and was a faithful employee of Regency Home Fashions for 25 years. 

Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at New Bethany Baptist Church in Statesville. Visitation will start at 1 pm, followed by the service at 2 pm. A graveside service will immediately follow. We ask that everyone wear red, as that was her favorite color.
