Dewhitt Conway Stroud

Mr. DeWhitt Conway Stroud, 70, of Harmony, died Tuesday. Born in Davie County on December 15, 1944, he was a son of the late Sam Stroud and Alma Blanch York Stroud. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shelby Lynn Threatte Stroud, a brother, Glen Stroud and sisters: Eloise Stroud Seaford, Jeanette Stroud and Cora Ellen Stroud. Mr. Stroud was a graduate of UNCC with a B.A. in English. He was a former teacher at Statesville High School. He enjoyed reading, writing, playing video games, dancing, music and being outdoors. Survivors include a son, Andrew Krider of Harmony, two daughters, Candace Stroud Ciccarelli of Statesville and Ivy Stroud of Harmony. Also surviving is a brother, Amos (Bud) Stroud of Statesville along with grandchildren: Jessica, Myia, Bryson, Alonna, Kaylynn, Chace, Hollee, Jordan, Britany and Maile and great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Friday at Nicholson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday October 30, 2015 at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carol Wilkinson officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
