Dessie Elizabeth Connolly

Dessie Elizabeth Hamm Connolly, 76, of Statesville, passed away Saturday, January 07, 2017 at the Gordon Hospice House. She was born on May 20, 1940 to the late Stanley Silas Hamm and Emma Burgess Hamm. Mrs. Connolly attended Central High School and on June 25, 1960 married Franklin D. Connolly who preceded her in death on July 30, 2010. They had over 50 years of marriage before his passing. Mrs. Connolly was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Community Church. She loved to care for people especially showing her love by baking pies and cakes for everyone. Along with her parents and husband, Franklin, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Johnny Hamm and two sisters, Fannie Johnson and Geneva Dyson. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Donna C. May; a grandson, Matthew May; two brothers, Dwight and Burgess Hamm; three sisters, Nealie Kilpatrick, Annie Shepherd, all of Statesville, and Evelyn Lunsford of Union Grove; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Mountain View United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Coley officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
