Darrell Stamey

Darrell Kent Stamey, 53, of Taylorsville, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2011 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Mr. Stamey was born August 10, 1957 in Cabarrus County and was the son of the late W.H. Stamey and Mary Hurst Laney. He was a graduate of Iredell County Schools and was first married to the late Sharon Lambert Stamey. He was of the Baptist Faith and was formerly employed by Romac Metals. He later remarried Melina Nantz Stamey on February 10, 2010, who survives of the home. In addition to his wife, Mr. Stamey is survived by one son, Kent Stamey (Michelle) of Stony Point, one daughter, Sheena S. Worley (Eric) of Taylorsville, two grandchildren, Samuel and Amber Stamey of Stony Point, three step-children, Billy Nantz of Mooresville, Maggie Burt of Mooresville, Jeannie White of Salisbury; four step-grandchildren, Maci, Carter, Sierra, Dylan, one brother, John Bo Laney (Margie) of Statesville, two sisters, Cathy Jo Dillard of Statesville, Teresa Lambert of Statesville and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2011 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Conley Matlock officiating. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home.
