Curtis Eugene Moore

Curtis Eugene Moore, age 83, died on Sunday, August 5, 2018, in his home.







Curtis was born on August 2, 1935 to the late Vance Eugene Moore and Elsie Basinger Moore. He attended Statesville City Schools. He worked for Southern Screw in Statesville before finding his passion as a diesel mechanic at I-40 Truck Center and Commercial Equipment.







Curtis loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle with those he loved.







Curtis was an active member of the Pisgah United Methodist Church, where he worshipped Jesus Christ, loved good music, and raised his family. He had a quiet faith, but a passionate faith. He was known as a "Good Samaritan" in the community as he helped anyone in need. He was one of the original members of the Trinity Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Gwaltney Ruritan Club







Curtis is survived by the love of his life and wife of 64 years, Shirley Harris Moore of Hiddenite: Children Jimmy Eugene Moore of Statesville, Curtis Dale Moore (Dona) of Statesville, Pamela Moore Lum (Lynn) of Columbia, SC, Rev. Dr. Terry Lynn Moore (Nancy) of Mooresville, Kent Wayne Moore (Vicky) of Stony Point; Grandchildren Bradley Moore, Dedra Chapman (Daniel), Stephanie Gabard (Josh), Patrick Mills (Haley), Brooke Dye, Ashley Stevenson (Vaughn), Andrew Moore, Kendra Moore, Faith Moore, and Haley Moore, and 11 Great-grandchildren; Brothers Vance Dean Moore of Toms River, NJ, and Jerry Lee Moore of Statesville.







The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, August 8, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Pisgah United Methodist Church located at 488 Hill Farm Road, Hiddenite, NC 28636. A celebration of Curtis' life and faith will be held on Thursday, August 9, at 11:00 am at the Pisgah United Methodist Church. Internment will follow at the church cemetery.
