Connie Fox

Mrs. Connie Mae Dixon Fox, 79, of Statesville, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Brian Center of Statesville following a brief battle with Alzheimer's. Mrs. Fox was born August 31, 1933 in Troy, NC and was the daughter of the late Jacob James (J.J.) Dixon and Myrtle Hansel Dixon. She attended Montgomery County Schools and in 1951, she married RL Fox, who survives. Mrs. Fox was a homemaker and a seamstress and she was a member of New Bethany Baptist Church. Along with her parents, Mrs. Fox was also preceded in death by two brothers, William L. Dixon and Lloyd H. Dixon along with two sisters, Carol Hager and Olivia Kate Dixon. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, RL Fox of the home, one daughter, Sandra Benfield (Mike) and one son, Jeffery Fox (Louise), all of Statesville. She is also survived by three granddaughters, Amy Gregory Slattery of Statesville, Lori Jackson (Aaron) of Winston-Salem and Heather Skinner of Statesville along with two grandsons, Justin Benfield (Kim) and Joshua Benfield and one great-grandson, Josiah Benfield, all of Statesville. She is further survived by two brothers, Charles Dixon of Asheboro and Ronald Dixon (Sandy) of Conover and five sisters, Mable Fox, Rachel Lambert, Nellie Allen, and Wilma Smith, all of Statesville and Margaret Holt of Thomasville. One sister-in-law, Jackie Dixon of Statesville and a host of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Fox will be conducted at 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at New Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Mason and Rev. Mike Benfield officiating. Burial will follow in the New Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home.
