Comer Jordan

Mr. Comer Coolidge Jordan, 84, of Harmony, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at Gordon Hospice House. Mr. Jordan was born in Iredell County on January 22, 1930, and was the son of the late Howard Jordan and Emma Dishman Jordan. He attended Iredell County schools and on November 5, 1955, he married Erma Tayes Jordan, who survives. Mr. Jordan was retired from Barnhardt Furniture Company and he was a member of Taylor Springs Baptist Church. Mr. Jordan had a passion and love for serving the Lord. He was formerly an Usher at the church, worked on the building and grounds and had a love for singing. He also loved his grandchildren, enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jordan was also preceded in death by two brothers, Conrad and Bill Jordan, one sister, Rita J. Boswell and a half brother, Mebane Dishman. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Erma T. Jordan of the home, three sons, Tim Jordan (Carol), Rick Jordan (Donna), both of Olin, and Roger Jordan (Cindy) of Union Grove; three daughters, Wanda J. Wooten (Steve) and Sandra Crater (Eddie), both of Olin, and Hilda Smith of Greensboro. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Jessica Fox (Jeremy), Jennifer Dyson (Bradley), Ricky Jordan, II, Cassie Jordan, Jeremy Wooten, Josh Crater (Ashley), Amanda Crater, and Edwin and Sherry Hefner. Five great-grandchildren, Whitney and Wyatt Fox, Audrey Dyson, Emma Inscoe, and Regan Napier along with three half sisters, Sarah Tayes, Mary Williams (Jerry), and Elda Dishman along with a half brother, J.P. Dishman (Linda), and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Jordan will be conducted 3:00 PM Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Taylor Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Carl Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends following the services. Active pallbearers will be J.P. Dishman, Homer Jordan, Jeremy Fox, Bradley Dyson, Ricky Jordan, II, and Jeremy Wooten. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Crater and Darrell Williams. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Taylor Springs Baptist Church, 443 Taylor Springs Rd, Union Grove, NC, 28689, or to Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
