Mr. Clyde Edward Sigmon, Sr., 87, of Statesville, passed away, Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Serenity House Hospice in Mooresville. Mr. Sigmon was born December 16, 1929 in Catawba County and was the son of the late Norman Sigmon and Nettie Shook Sigmon. He attended Catawba County Schools and served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. In 1952, he was married to the late Marie DeHerrea Sigmon, who passed away January 10, 2016. He was retired from US Army after 25 years and the US Postal Service after 7 years. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, was a member of Northview Freewill Baptist Church and was a member of the American Legion Post 0065. He is survived by 7 children, Rodney Sigmon, Clyde E. Sigmon, Jr. (Sandra), Joseph Sigmon (Elaine), Marvin Sigmon (Laura), Glenn Sigmon (Teresa), Donald Sigmon (Danette), Dennis Sigmon; 19 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, five siblings, Cloyde, Archie, Janice, Brenda, Phylis and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife of 54 years, he was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 17, 2017 at Eufola Baptist Church with Rev. Jake Potter officiating. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery with full military honors. The family will visit with friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. before the service at the church.
