Cleo Lowrance

Cleo Johnson Lowrance, 98, of Statesville, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at her residence. Ms. Lowrance was born June 2, 1916 in Wilkes County, NC and was the daughter of the late Rufus Cleveland Johnson, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Brooks Johnson. She was a graduate of Celeste Henkel High School and on November 24, 1937 was married to the late Ray Sigmon, who died in 1967. She was a member of Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church for many years and was very faithful to read her bible daily even though she was unable to attend church in recent years. She worked for Uniglass Industries for 40 years before retiring. She loved her flowers, gardening and crocheting, which she shared with her family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Daisy J. Bolick, Mabel J. Aldridge, Fannie J. Stewart, Annie J. Kastor, Carrie Lou J. Sharpe and six brothers, S.L. Johnson, R. Rastus Johnson, W. Gernie Johnson, E. Joe Johnson, Julius K. Johnson and R. C. Johnson, Jr. Ms. Lowrance is survived by many nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 15, 2014 at Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church with Rev. Thomas Corbell officiating. The body will lie in state at Nicholson Funeral Home until the funeral hour. Memorials may be made to Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church, Building Fund, 106 Mt.
