Mrs. Bertha Christeen Warren Watts, 95, of Mooresville, died Monday, December 23, 2013. Mrs. Watts was born in Alexander County on September 6, 1918, the daughter of the late Eddie Austin Warren and Artie Goble Warren. She attended school at Central, Stony Point, and Whittenburg School. On September 4, 1937 she married Ray Carlton Watts, who preceded her in death. Her husband, Rev. Ray Carlton Watts, served as a minister for more than forty years. She loved being the wife of a minister and serving the Lord. Mrs. Watts was a member of Community Baptist Church in Mt. Mourne, NC where she served and participated in numerous ministries and offices. Mrs. Watts was an excellent seamstress. She worked at Troutman Shirt Mill, Dramore Manufacturing, and Country Bargain Upholstery. She was a quilter and especially enjoyed the art of crochet. She was well known for crocheting baby dolls that she gave away. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Watts was preceded in death by a daughter, Artie Mae Watts Stevens Hawkins; a grandson, Tony Ray Stevens; two brothers, Harley Carleen Warren and Kermit Alspaugh Warren; and one sister, Lucy Mae Warren Graham Wilson. She is survived by three daughters, Mary Joan Watts Waugh Dalton of Mooresville, Bertha Rae Watts Small (Jerry) of Belmont, and Rebecca Lynn Watts Cash (David) of Kernersville; her niece, Glenna Lea Graham Wood (Martin), of Charlotte, eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, numerous great-great-grandchildren, and a large loving extended family. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Christeen Watts will be conducted Saturday, December 28, 2013. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 until 11:00 am at the Nicholson Funeral Home followed by the celebration of life service at 11:00 am in the Chapel with Rev. David Cash and Rev. Lynn Watts Cash officiating. Burial will follow in the Community Baptist Church Cemetery in Mt. Mourne. Active pallbearers will be the grandchildren. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
