Chris Lanier

Mr. Chris Ronald Lanier, 77, of Statesville, went to be with The Lord on Friday, April 18, 2014, from the Gordon Hospice House. He lost the battle with cancer after 2 years of fighting but he gained victory in Jesus in the end anyway! Mr. Lanier was born in Toombs County, GA and was the son of the late Brooks Lanier and Cleo Shuman Russell. He was a graduate of Statesboro High School- class of 1956 in GA. On September 1, 1973 he married the former Linda Hitt Lanier, who preceded him in death 2001. Mr. Lanier was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a retired supervisor with Bartlett Milling Flour Company in 2002. Mr. Lanier is survived by one daughter, Kristy L. Hedrick and husband John of Statesville, one son, Chris R. Lanier of Statesboro, GA, along with four grandchildren, Adalyn and Alexandra Lanier and Zoey and Lunden Hedrick. One sister, Susan Hyland and husband Eddie of Flemington, NJ. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 21, 2014 from 6:00-730pm. Graveside funeral services for Mr. Lanier will be conducted 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Randy Mitchell officiating. Active pallbearers will be Donnie, Dillion, and Davis Hoffman, Dan Waksman, Glenn Hedrick, and David Pipes. Full military honors will be provided by the Iredell County Veterans Burial Detail. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
