Chelsea Leon Sharpe Sr.

Chelsea Leon Sharpe, Sr., 71, of Statesville, died Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at the Gordon Hospice House. Born in Iredell County on January 15, 1949, he was a son of the late Eugene Valentine Sharpe and Marie Latten Sharpe. In 1970, he married Jo-Ann "Penny" Sharpe who survives.

He was preceded in death by a son, Kendal Eugene Sharpe.

Mr. Sharpe enjoyed farming, was an avid gun collector and enjoyed target shooting. He also enjoyed reading. He was a retired electronic technician from Sears Service Center in Hickory. He was a graduate of Unity High School, N.C. A & T University, and Central Piedmont and Mitchell Community Colleges.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Kiley Spencer Sharpe (Nichole) and Chelsea Leon Sharpe, Jr., a sister, Bettye Sharpe Tull, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Services celebrating Mr. Sharpe's life will be conducted at 1:30 P.M. Monday at Calvary Presbyterian Church U.S.A. with Pastor Timothy Bates officiating. The family will greet friends in the sanctuary from 1:00 to 1:30 prior to the service. Private burial will be in Belmont Cemetery.
