Charles Ray Best

Charles Ray Best Sr., 87, of Statesville, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. He was born in Wayne County on November 20, 1927 to the late George H. Best Sr. and GladysLouise Rackley Best. On November 27, 1949, he married Doris Pearce Best, who survives. They enjoyed over 65 years of marriage before his passing. He was retired from Gray Rock Farm Trucking where he was a driver. He was a member of Southview Baptist Church. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Doris; three sons, Charles R. Best Jr., James Michael Best (Cynthia), and Timothy Best (Angela), all of Statesville; four daughters, Brenda Kay B. Campbell of Statesville, Nancy B. Murdock (Dennis) of Troutman, Doris Marie B. Phillips (Richard) of Statesville, and Beverly B. Boger (Robert) of Troutman; 17 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren, one deceased grandchild and one brother, George H. Best Jr. of Goldsboro. Funeral services for Mr. Best will be held Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 3:00 P.M. at Southview Baptist Church with Pastor Walter Wagner, Pastor J.C. Parks and Pastor Larry Duffer officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 until 3:00 at the church prior to the service.
