Charles Edwin Bell

Mr. Charles Edwin Bell, 78, of Statesville, died Saturday, July 29, 2017, after declining health since February. Mr. Bell was born in Iredell County and was the son of the late Woodrow Bell and Marie Mayes Bell. He graduated from Cool Springs High School, 1957 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, retiring at the rank of Command Sgt. Major. He grew up on the family dairy farm on Bell Farm Road, then worked with H&B Lumber Co. in Statesville and later as a furniture manufacturer's representative with American Drew for 40 years. He was currently a member of Western Avenue Baptist Church with former memberships at Diamond Hill and Beulah Baptist Churches. He was married to Geneva Myers Bell for 56 years prior to her death on December 31, 2014. In February 2017, he married Margie Pritchard Bell, who survives. Mr. Bell is also survived by two sons, Mark Bell of Durham, NC and Timothy Bell (Tacy) of Greensboro, NC. He is also survived by one granddaughter, Lila Bell of Greensboro along with a step-son, Sean Krause and step-grandson, Kobe Krause. He is survived by two sisters, Reba B. McNeely, Statesville and Diane B. Gray, Signal Mtn. TN and three brothers, Von Bell (Pat), Rex Bell (Judy), both of Statesville and Keith Bell (Jeanne) of Waxhaw, NC. Family Visitation will be held at Western Avenue Baptist Church on Friday evening August 4th from 6:30 until 8:30 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 am Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Western Avenue Baptist Church with the Reverend, Dr. Jeff Spry officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice or to Western Avenue Baptist Church, 1206 Museum Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
