Frances Carole Moose Hartness ,91,of Statesville passed away Sunday, May 21, 2023.
Carole was born March 8, 1932 in Statesville to the late Dennis William Moose and Eunice Elnora Bolick. Carole Graduated Celeste Henkel in 1950. She married Richard Alexander Hartness of Statesville on Oct 17, 1952. Carole worked as a receptionist at Barium Springs Home For Children, was a member of the Wayside Homemakers Club and an early member of the Iredell County Genealogical Society. She was a long time member of the First ARP Church in Statesville. Carole volunteered for many years at Iredell Memorial Hospital and the Gordon Hospice House. She was an avid reader making the public library one of her regular stops.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Alexander Hartness and one son, Dennis Richard Hartness
Carole is survived by her children, David Wayne Hartness, Tony James Hartness, and Barry Alan Hartness; grandchildren, Bethany Marie Hartness-Smith (Chris) and Benjamin Alan Hartness; great-grandchildren, Emilia Reese Smith and Liam Reid Smith; siblings, Martha Fry of Chattanooga, TN, Robert Moose (Anita) of Denver, NC, and Linda Elam of Troutman; many nephews and nieces; and special friends Barbara Stradley, Billie Fae Gill, and Marie Richon.

After both her husband and son suffered from an Intracerebral Hemorrhage (ICH); she helped start a research project into ICH strokes at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital. She was very proud of the part she played in starting and helping to continue this research.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, Friday, May 26, 2023, at Nicholson Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Nicholson Funeral Home with Reverend Charles Evans officiating. Burial will follow the service in Iredell Memorial Park.
