Carmen Mobley Jackins

February 19, 1946 — August 18, 2018

Carmen Mobley Jackins passed away peacefully on August 18, 2018, following a courageous battle against metastatic breast cancer. Carmen was born in Gaston Co., NC on February 19, 1946. She was the daughter of the late John Roland and Mildred Dunlap Mobley. She was a graduate of Scotts High School Class of 1964. On May 25, 1969 she married Daniel Erwin Jackins. Carmen and Danny shared forty-nine years of love and partnership, and together they created a loving home for their three children; Andy, Amy, and Ted. For many years, Carmen worked for the Statesville Record and Landmark, first as a reporter and later as Lifestyles and Sunday Editors. She was also a member of the Board of Directors of the NC Presswomen's Association and was awarded an Outstanding Journalism Award by the North Carolina Federation of Women's Clubs, Inc. In 1995 she began a second career as a successful realtor and broker. In 2001 she was named Realtor of the Year by Hunter Realty Co. By far her favorite role in life was mother and grandmother. She was very involved with her children's schools and activities. She instilled in her children a sense of independence rooted with a deep understanding that they were unconditionally loved. As her grandchildren came along, she made certain they had lots of opportunity for playtime with made-up games, kitchen creations, and the annual family beach trip. She loved her grandchildren beyond measure. Carmen will be remembered for her calm, loving nature, her sense of justice and beauty, and her selflessness. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to share life's journey with her.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brother, Rickey Mobley and her sister, Hilda Mobley. She is survived by her devoted husband, Danny; their children, Andy Jackins (Cheryl) of West Townshend, VT, Amy J. Estes (Stephen) of Statesville, and Ted Jackins (Ila) of Harmony. She is also survived by her grandchildren Stella and Keller Jackins, Lanie and Aiden Estes, and Annabelle Hawks. She is further survived by her brother Keith Mobley (Jan) of Knoxville, TN and sister Patti Loner (John) of Mooresville; nieces, Heather Gray, Kristen Mobley, Reagan McCracken, Katybeth Mailleue, Eve Tuttle, and Tracey Shively; nephews John Fraley, Matthew Staten, Rusty, Ryan, and Reid Mobley, and David Loner; and brother-in-law, Cecil Link (Chris) of Kernersville, N.C.

The family will visit with friends on Wednesday evening, August 22, 2018 from 6:00 until 8:00pm at Nicholson Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be held 11:00 am Thursday, August 23, 2018 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Louise Learson officiating. A private committal service will be held on a later date in Oakwood Cemetery.
