Boyce Lambert

Boyce Clifton Lambert, 73, of Statesville departed this life at the Gordon Hospice House, Sunday, January 18, 2015. Born in Iredell County, May 5, 1941 to the late Clarence and Carrie Grant Lambert. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Tom, Clarence Jr., Grady and Toby Lambert and sister, Lillian Lambert Cloer. Boyce graduated at Scotts High School 1959. He served in the US Army from 1959 until 1963 at which time he received an honorable discharge. Boyce served as a correctional officer with the NC Department of Corrections for 33 years. Attaining the rank of Superintendent at the Catawba Facility. Boyce was awarded the state's highest honor, "The Order Of The Long Leaf Pine." After retirement he loved spending time visiting and spinning yarns with his friends at Stewart's Salvage yards. They were considered his extended family. Boyce displayed his Christian faith in loving kindness to everyone he met. Boyce is survived by his wife, the former Addie "Dell" Gwaltney whom he married August 10, 1963 at Mt. Wesley Church in Alexander County. They had 51 years of happiness before his passing. He is survived by a sister, Pauline Lambert Stewart of Statesville. A sister-in-law, Peggy Gwaltney Summers of Taylorsville. Many greatly loved nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Boyce was a beloved uncle to all. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Monticello Baptist Church, Taylorsville Hwy. with Rev. Dr. Bobby Henderson officiating. The family will greet friends 1:30-2:45 prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Iredell County Veteran Detail. Memorials may be given to the Gordon Hospice House, 2347 Simonton Rd., Statesville, NC 28625 or Monticello Baptist Church, 3603 Taylorsville Rd., Statesville, NC 28625.
