Bonnie Norton

June 12, 1921 — April 27, 2017

Mrs. Bonnie Harrington Norton, 95, of Stony Point, died Thursday, April 27, 2017, at Gordon Hospice House. Mrs. Norton was born in Alexander County on June 12, 1921, and was the daughter of the late Edwin Lee Harrington and Minnie Gilreath Harrington. She attended Hiddenite High School and on November 1, 1947, she married Roy Guy Norton and together they shared 46 years of marriage before his death on March 29, 1994. Mrs. Norton was a member of Midway United Methodist Church where she served as the Adult Women Sunday School teacher. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Norton was preceded in death by a son, Eric Norton in 1982, three sisters, Bernice Bost, Ruth Nicholaides, and Norma Delamar and four brothers, Max, Kent, Morris, and Lynn Harrington.

Left to cherish her memory are one son, Larry Norton of Charlotte, two daughters, Barbara N. Gatton (David) of Statesville, and Sarah Norton (Steve Story) of Land O' Lakes, FL. She is also survived by two grandsons, Chris Story and David James Gatton along with a sister-in-law, Allene Harrington of Hiddenite. Funeral services for Bonnie Norton will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, May 1, 2017, at Midway United Methodist Church with Rev. Mickey Moree and Rev. Gervase Hitch officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Nicholson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Midway United Methodist Church, 1200 Midway Road, Statesville, NC 28625 or to the Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
