Mr. Bobby Gene Bell, 80, of Statesville, died Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the Gordon Hospice House. Born in Iredell County on October 8, 1936, he was a son of the late Fred Lester Bell and Sarah Travis Bell. On April 19, 1958, he married Dorothy Guy who survives. He served in the US Army and the National Guard. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He retired from Southern Screw Co., operated Bell's Income Tax Service and was a self-employed painting contractor. He was also a member of the West Iredell Ruritan Club. He graduated from Scotts High School in 1955. In addition to his wife of 58 years, he is survived by one daughter, Jody Bell Maggio (Burt), two grandchildren, Carolina and Luke Maggio of Middletown, MD, one brother, Tommy L. Bell (Donna) of Statesville, one sister, Ruby B. Morrison (Albert) of Statesville, numerous nieces, nephews and his dog, Heidi. Mr. Bell was preceded in death by four sisters, Vernie B. Sherrill, Freddie B. Lazenby, Shirley B. Campbell, Betty B. Troutman and two brothers, George Bell and Glenn Bell. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Monday at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Duncan and Rev. Bill Gerhardt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends at the church for one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Active pallbearers will be Joel Massey, Justin Massey, Eric Troutman, Atwell Brown, Clyde Albea, Thomas Setzer and Nick Setzer. Honorary pallbearers will be member of the West Iredell Ruritans.
