THOMASVILLE-Mr. Billy Ray Blevins, 87, of Thomasville, NC passed away February 23, 2021 at Hospice of the Piedmont in High Point, NC. The son of the late George and Nancy Napier Blevins, Mr. Blevins was born January 4, 1934 in Harlan, KY and was a coal miner before becoming a resident of Thomasville for 56 years. He loved welding and woodworking and was employed as a welder for Mickey Body in High Point. Mr. Blevins is a member of Silver Valley Baptist Church in Lexington, NC and he was an anointed preacher who loved studying The Word, revivals, and camp meetings. Bill continued his unwavering faith in God by working in his own ministry and that of his home churches. He encouraged his children and grandchildren to always keep a close walk with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He loved singing and whistling in church and even had a recording studio where he recorded his music. Mr. Blevins was selfless, always striving to meet whatever needs his family had, and he loved people with all his heart and loved talking with everyone. In his spare time he enjoyed going to flea markets, and he secretly loved all animals. In addition to his parents, Mr. Blevins is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years Vada Joyce Blevins and brother Baxter Blevins. Left to cherish his memories are his daughter Leisa Hayworth (Tommy) of High Point, Jeffrey Ray Blevins of Winston-Salem, Billy Edward Blevins (Tember) of Asheboro, eight grandchildren Joshua Hayworth (Brandy) of High Point, Adam Hayworth (Lauren) of High Point, Zachery Blevins (Bobbi) of Asheboro, Bo Blevins of Nebraska, Faith Blevins of Asheboro, Jeff "Denny" Blevins of Thomasville, Heather Blevins of Charlotte, Casey (Ashley) Blevins of Trinity, eight beautiful great-grandchildren Mason, Gaylene, Noah, Vada, Ronsome, Sandra, Tanner, and Lucas, brother Burley Blevins of Tennessee, and sister Mary Ann Blevins of Kentucky. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Silver Valley Baptist Church in Lexington, NC. The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support in many heartfelt expressions from too many people to name individually, but especially family, friends, and Hospice of the Piedmont. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Silver Valley Baptist Church or Hospice of the Piedmont.
