Billy Joe Hurt

Mr. Billy Joe Hurt, 75, of Statesville, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2015, at his home. Mr. Hurt was born in Palmersville, TN on June 23, 1939, and was the son of the late Carl Byron and Crenaze Miller Hurt. On September 16, 1995, he married Jennifer Jenkins Hurt, who survives. Mr. Hurt was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of New Salem UMC. He was a retired supervisor with Master Cleaning Service. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and a granddaughter. In addition to his wife, Jennifer, Mr. Hurt is survived by three sons, Bryon Miller, Nathan Joseph, and Owen Richard Sykes Hurt, all of the home, and one daughter, Jo Anne Tollus (Steve) of Belleville, MI. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Polly Jenkins of Statesville, a brother-in-law, Ben and his wife Nancy Jenkins, along with three great grandchildren and special family friends, Beverly Frye and JR. Clanton. A graveside funeral service for Mr. Hurt will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, January 10, 2015, at New Salem UMC with Rev. David Gay officiating. The family will visit with friends following the services at the cemetery.
