Mr. Billy Joe Cook, 75, of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at his home. Mr. Cook was born in Iredell County on October 20, 1939, and was the son of the late William John Cook and Rachel Gregory Cook. He was a graduate of Statesville High School and on October 5, 1963, he married Brenda Pope Cook, who preceded him in death on June 6, 2015. Mr. Cook was retired from Benfield Sanitation and following his retirement, he worked with Tray's Transport as a driver. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Roger Joe Cook, a sister, Joyce Ann Creedmore. He is survived by his daughter, Charlotte Queen (Nelson), granddaughter, Sarah Jones, and grandson, Troy Josey (Stephanie), all of Statesville. He is also survived by three great-granddaughters, Breanna Adams, Alexis Jones and Eleanor Grace Josey along with two brothers, Donnie Cook (Glenda) of Statesville and Bobby Cook of Fort Mill, SC and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services for Mr. Cook will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, August 15, 2015, in the Concord Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Kyle Goodman officiating. The family will visit with friends from 11:30 until 12:30 pm in the church fellowship hall. Pallbearers will be Jerry Carpenter, Andrew Hall, Rodney Cook, Kent Cook, Blair Creedmore, Madison Wiseman, Stephen Eades, Darren Waugh, and Cameron Waugh. Memorials may be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625, or to Concord Presbyterian Church, 3867 Taylorsville Hwy, Statesville, NC 28625.
