Mrs. Billie Griffith Yountz, 87, of Statesville, died January 20, 2016 at the Gordon Hospice House. Born in Guilford County on August 23, 1929, she was a daughter of the late C. W. Griffith and Mabel Click Griffith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Howard Eddie Yountz, Sr. Billie was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church where she was active in the senior citizens club and the breakfast group. She was a member of the YMCA and loved to swim. She also was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles and boat riding. She also loved the beach, but most of all dearly loved her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a retired LPN from the Maternity Ward at Iredell Memorial Hospital after 27 years of service. She was also a graduate of Mocksville High School. Survivors include her children: Howard Eddie Yountz, Jr. (Elizabeth), David Yountz (Sandra), Clarissa Darlene Jackson, Sherwyn Y. Clarke (Kent) and Andy Yountz (Lisa), along with 30 grandchildren and great grandchildren. Services celebrating Billie's life will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Oakdale Baptist Church with Rev. Matthew Eades officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday evening at Nicholson Funeral Home from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Condolences may be sent online to the family to www.nicholsonfunerals.com.
