Bill Owens

Mr. Billy Lucky Owens, of Statesville, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2013, at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Mr. Owens was born October 23, 1929 in Rowan County and was the son of the late Lon H. and Hattie Stutts Owens. He worked with Southern Bell and AT&T and he retired after 32 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Boovey Owens, two daughters, Debra O. Rutledge (Brad) and Lisa L. Owens and three grandsons, Atticus Rutledge (Jennifer), David Rutledge and Jesse Rutledge along with one granddaughter, Amie Rutledge. He is also survived by a great grandson, Jaeven Tindal along with a number of nieces and nephews. A private graveside funeral service for the immediate family will conducted today in the Third Creek Presbyterian Church cemetery. A memorial service for Mr. Owens will be conducted 3:00 PM Sunday, November 17, 2013 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will visit with friends from 2:00 until 3:00 pm at the funeral home. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
