Mr. William "Bill" Eugene Crosswhite, 80, of Statesville, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at Maple Leaf Healthcare. Mr. Crosswhite was born April 26, 1933, in Bristol, VA. He was a graduate of Patterson School in Happy Valley, NC and he attended Mitchell College before going on to graduate from Catawba College. He was drafted and served in the U.S. Army in Korea. Following service in Korea, he enrolled in the law school at Wake Forest College. On June 2, 1956, Bill married Jessie Sowers Crosswhite, who survives and was a member of Western Avenue Baptist Church and was a member of Gideons International. Following his graduation from law school at Wake Forest, he returned to Statesville and joined his father-in-law, Neil Sowers, in the practice of law. Bill worked as the City Solicitor in Statesville and an attorney with Crosswhite Law Firm. In addition to his wife of 57 years, Mr. Crosswhite is survived by two sons, Joe Crosswhite (Desiree) and Bob Crosswhite (Heather) along with one daughter, Becky Crosswhite Ford (William), all of Statesville. He is also survived by one brother, Leroy Crosswhite of Winston-Salem, NC and 11 grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews. A memorial service for Mr. Crosswhite will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday, February 16, 2014, at Western Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Skip Cartin officiating. There will be a private burial Saturday for family. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Gideons Camp of Statesville, 423 Saint Andrews Rd, Statesville, NC 28625.
