Bill Clyde Summers

Bill Clyde Summers, 84, of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. He was born in Iredell County on March 24, 1932 to the late Henry D. and Hattie McLelland Summers. Bill was a graduate of Central High School and served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was married to Alice Craver Summers who preceded him in death in July of 2010. He was a retired self-employed barber and was a member of Yadkin Baptist Church. Bill was a Mason and loved to garden, raising enough vegetables to feed Iredell County. He and his wife, Alice, worked together on wood working projects and crafts for many years. He was a self- taught fiddler who played in various bands and won numerous awards. Along with his parents and wife, Alice, he was preceded in death by three brothers; three sisters; three nephews, and two nieces. Left to cherish his memory are his sisters-in-laws, who cared for him, Gail and Lynn; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends. A graveside service with military honors provided by the North Iredell American Legion Post 113 will be held 10:00 AM Friday, July 15, 2016 at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Bunton officiating. The family will visit with friends at Nicholson Funeral Home Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
