Betty Stroud

Mrs. Betty Jean Wooten Stroud, 87, of Statesville, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at Maple Leaf Health Care. Mrs. Stroud was born in Iredell County on February 8, 1926 and was the daughter of the late Edd and Annie Howard Wooten. She was a graduate of Statesville High School class of '41. On February 16, 1951 she married Gilbert Douglas Stroud, who survives. Mrs. Stroud was retired from Brenton Textiles where she worked as sewing room supervisor. Along with her parents, Mrs. Stroud was also preceded in death by a brother, Howard Clay Wooten and a sister, Edwinna Gillon. In addition to her husband Gilbert Stroud of the home, she is also survived by two sons, Doug Stroud (Debbie) of Hickory and John Stroud (Melanie) of Statesville, two grandsons, Paul Stroud (Kandey) of Granite Falls and Aaron Stroud of Maiden along with two granddaughters, Angela S. Hubbard (Michael) of Granite Falls and Amanda Stroud of Statesville. She is further survived by great-grandchildren, Morgan and Mason Hubbard and Kyra and Katie Stroud. Two sisters, Faye Loyd (Jim) of Statesville and Dorothy Fox of Orlando, FL also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Stroud will be conducted 2:00 pm Friday, March 29, 2013 at Mountain Road Baptist Church with Rev. Jamie Fox and Rev. Aaron Stroud officiating. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 until 2:00 pm at the church. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
