Mrs. Mrs. Betty Jean Gaither Wallace, 89, of Harmony, died Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at the Gordon Hospice House. Born in Iredell County on February 6, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Burl Gaither and Myrtle Tomlinson Gaither. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Thomas G. Wallace. She was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church and loved her gardening and yard work. She enjoyed being outside and loved her children and grandchildren. She formerly worked at Hunter Brothers and Piedmont Garment and later was a sales clerk at J. C. Penny.
Survivors include a son, Steve Wallace (Vicky), a daughter, Pat Hollar (JJ), a brother, Billy Gaither and 4 grandchildren: Zack Wallace, Jennifer VanDyck, Kelly Hutchinson and Christina Canipe along with 10 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 Friday at the Harmony Cemetery with Rev. Dale Wallace officiating. The family will greet friends at the cemetery following the service.
