Mrs. Betty Marie Upright Curtin, 58, of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at Gordon Hospice House. Mrs. Curtin was born May 4, 1953 in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Calvin C. "Red" and Vera Brown Upright. Mrs. Curtin attended Iredell County schools and on May 8, 1971 she married Fred Albert Curtin, Jr., who survives. She was a member of Northview Free Will Baptist Church and worked as a food demonstrator with B.J's wholesale. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Upright and one grandson, Luke Curtin. Along with her husband, Fred A. Curtin, of the home, she is survived by one son, Brian L. Curtin (Dawn) of Statesville and two grandsons, Brandon and Vaughn A.A. Curtin, also of Statesville. She is also survived by five brothers, Nathan (Shirley), Bill (Pam), Larry (Judy), Renny (Debbie) and Tony (Betty) Upright and three sisters, Bonnie Jolly (Harry), Martha England (Leroy) and Cindy Hartness. Funeral services for Mrs. Curtin will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, March 30, 2012 at Northview Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Donnie Dingess and Rev Harry "Troop" Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Thursday evening from 6:30 until 8:00 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home and will assemble at other times at the Curtin home.
