Betty Fox Corbett peacefully departed this world Wednesday at the Gordon Hospice House. Mrs. Corbett was born May 26, 1926 to the late Cloyd and Louise Fox. Betty had a love for life and never met a stranger. She was a common sight at the farmer's market, yard sales, and wherever people gathered. Her greatest love was for her family. She leaves behind three children, Susan Dawson of Newnan, Georgia; Nancy Fields (Harold) and Jeff Corbett, both of Statesville; grandchildren Matthew and William Corbett, and Alex Fields, all of Statesville. Mrs. Corbett was also predeceased by a son, Mike Corbett, and husband Bill. Her career was varied, and always centered on helping others. She held a Masters in Social Work, having worked at the local Department of Social Services and I-Care. In the 1980's, she was in retail sales at JC Penney, where her customers became her friends. A service of remembrance is Saturday at 11am at First Baptist Church on Davie Avenue, with Dr. Jack Causey presiding. Immediately following the service, the family will receive friends in the Adams Hall. The family requests that in lieu of flowers or other gifts of kindness, donations be made to the Iredell County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1617 Statesville, NC 28687, or the Iredell Christian Ministries, 322 East Front Street Statesville 28677. Online condolences may be made at www.nicholsonfunerals.com/obituaries. Nicholson Funeral Home is serving the family of Mrs. Corbett.
