Bettie Marie Bell Gatton

Bettie Marie Bell Gatton, age 91, of Statesville, passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023, at her home.  Born on May 21, 1932, in Iredell County, she was the daughter of the late Fletch Bell and Mary Church Bell.

Bettie was a longtime member of Mt. Sinai Evangelical Methodist Church.  She was a simple woman who loved her Lord and Savior.  In addition to her parent, Fletch and Mary Bell, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Jack Gatton; sisters, Lucille Johnson, Dot Mitchell, Margaret Bell, and Catherine Danner; and brothers, Ralph Bell and Ray Bell.  Left to cherish her memory include her sisters, Ruby Frazier and Carol Holdsclaw; brother LW Bell and his wife, Margaret; her special niece and loving caregiver, Mary Anne Frazier; numerous other nieces and nephews; and her other loving caregivers, Kathleen Ellis, Corinne Berardi, and Lillian Lackey.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at Mt. Sinai Evangelical Methodist Church with Reverend David Kimball officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm at the church.

A graveside service will follow the services in Mt. Sinai Evangelical Methodist Church Cemetery.  Palbearers honor Ms. Gatton are Michael Bell, Eric Bell, Leighton Bell, Brandon Bell, Larry Johnson, and Dennis Mitchell.
