Bertha "Maw" Stewart

Mrs. Bertha "Maw" Collins Stewart, 86, of Mooresville, went home to be with our Lord on Sunday, April 10, 2016, at her home. Mrs. Stewart was born in Iredell County on March 17, 1930, and was the daughter of the late Conway Vernam Collins and Mollie Sims Collins. She graduated from Troutman High School and on December 28, 1948, she married Clinton Marvin Stewart, who went home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, April 6, 2016. She worked at Troutman Shirt Mill for 35 years and was a member of Fern Hill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two infant sons, a son-in-law Danny Young and a brother-in-law, Ken Bradburn. She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Stewart Young of Statesville and Susan Stewart Campbell (Rick) of Mooresville. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Wendy Hensley (Teddy), Tracy Collins (Adrian), Alan Young (Dawn), Teresa Matlock (Daren) and Tammy Russ (Josh), nine great-grandchildren, Nicholas (Jaclyn), Jordan (Kera), Jacob, Matthew, Nathan, Caleb, Serenity, Owen, and Ava along with two sisters, Madeline Collins Bradburn of Troutman and Shelby Collins Honeycutt (Jerry) of Mooresville. Funeral services for Mrs. Stewart will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Fern Hill Baptist Church with Revs. Jesse Stroud, Conley Matlock, Eddie Graham, and Chancee Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Tuesday evening at Nicholson Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Nicholas and Jacob Matlock, Alan and Matthew Young, Teddy and Nathan Hensley, Josh Russ, and MMFA Jordan Hensley. Honorary pallbearers will be Caleb and Owen Russ, Adrian Collins and Daren Matlock. The extended Stewart family has requested that memorials in memory of Mr. & Mrs. Stewart be made to The Gospelaires, c/o 723 Fern Hill Road, Mooresville, NC 28117 to help carry on their legacy through gospel music. The family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to Mrs. Mary and The Grace Team for their genuine, loving care of "Maw".
