Beatrice C. Lackey

Mrs. Beatrice Cockram Lackey, 88, of Mocksville, died Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at her home. Born in Woolwine, Virginia on August 28, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Chester Arthur Cockram and Martha Elizabeth MacAlexander Cockram. She was a member of Cockran St. Baptist Church and was a retired textile worker from Clark-Schwebel. She attended Woolwine Virginia Public Schools. On June 12, 1945, she married Mr. James Roland Lackey who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were brothers: James, Roy, Glen, Raymond and Marvin Cockram, sisters: Betty Sexton, Pauline Hodges and Virginia Rorrer and half sisters: Louvenia Handy, Della Mae Compton and Florence Cockram. Survivors include two sons: Calvin Lackey(Donna) and Danna Lackey (Patricia) all of Statesville, daughters: Barbara Ann Lackey Williams of Mocksville, Gail Steele (Richard) of Harmony and Sandra Wright of Mocksville, along with 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Sadie Musser of Frederick, Maryland and Lula Hall of Bassett, Virginia. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 Saturday at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. J. B . Parker, Jr. and Rev. Jason Buchannon officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will be assembled at the home and will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Friday evening at Nicholson Funeral Home.
