Barry Smith

Mr. Barry Franklin Smith, 56, of Statesville, passed away unexpectedly at the home of his daughter on Monday, January 7, 2013. Mr. Smith was born in Washington, D.C. on April 29, 1956 and was the son of the late William Earl and Dorothy Jean Graf Smith. He attended school in Maryland and he was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Smith was a self employed painter. Barry was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend. He loved painting and wood restoration. Well known in the community, Barry was a loving and caring person who went out of his way to help others. He will be missed by his entire family. Mr. Smith is survived by four children, six grandchildren, four brothers, three sisters and his extended family. Graveside funeral services for Mr. Smith will be conducted 10:00 am Friday, January 11, 2013 in the Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury will full military honors. The family will visit with friends Thursday evening from 6:30 until 8:30 at Nicholson Funeral Home.
