Barbara Rhyne

Barbara K. Rhyne of Statesville passed away at the Gordon Hospice house on Wednesday, January 5, 2011. She has won her battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis and is with the Lord. She was born July 10, 1933 to the late Autie F. and Maude B. Kelley. She was a graduate of Statesville Senior High and attended Catawba Calley Community College in Hickory. She retired from the office of Optometric Eye Care in 1988. Barbara was a member of Diamond Hill Baptist Church, having joined in 1971. She married the love of her life, David Rhyne on June 21, 1952. In addition to her husband, Barbara is survived by her daughter Barbara and husband Dr. James Culley of Pearisburg, Virginia and her son, David Rhyne and wife Victoria of Sarasota, Florida. She is also survived by one granddaughter, Jennifer Roberts and her husband Dr. Jonathan Roberts, two great grandchildren Luke and Kendall Roberts all of Richmond Hill, Georgia. Four step-grandchildren, Dr's. Marybeth and Tom Nevins, Christopher and Shannon Culley of Texas, Tanya and Chris Provangano of New York, and Thad and Erin Culley of California. Five step-great grandchildren Tommy and Zachary Nevins, Christopher Culley, Emma Culley, Aurelia Provangano. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her two brothers, Autie F. and William (Bill) Kelley and her sister, Dorothy (Dot) Simmerman. Graveside services for Barbara Kelley Rhyne will be held at 11:00am, on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Tom Corbell, Rev. Larry Holman and Dr. Jim Culley officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gordon Hospice House, 2347 Simonton Road. Statesville, NC 28625 or to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 811 W.
