Annie Lucille Miller

April 23, 1926 — October 4, 2018

Annie Lucille Matlock Miller, 92, of Statesville, died Thursday, October 4, 2018 at her home. Mrs. Miller was born in Alexander County on April 23, 1926 and was the daughter of the late Jasper A. Matlock and Mary Lambert Matlock.



Mrs. Miller was married to Thomas Howard Miller and together they shared 53 years of marriage until his death on December 27, 2000.



She was a graduate of Stony Point High School and received her certificate from cosmetology school. Mrs. Miller was a member of Front Street Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher for the pre-school aged children.



Mrs. Miller was a self-employed hairdresser. She operated her beauty shop from her home where she developed life-long friendships.



Mrs. Miller loved playing canasta. She played for years with her friends, the "Southern Bell Canasta Club". Lucille was a loving, caring and generous person. Her caring spirit was shown by preparing meals for family, friends, neighbors, and church family during difficult times. She will be missed by all who knew her.



In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Nell and Archie Feimster along with a brother and sister-in-law Buck and Euzela Matlock.



Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Donna Sherrill of Catawba and son Rick Miller (Lynda) of Sherrill's Ford. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Shannon Miller and Chastity Miller Brannen (Nathan), both of Mooresville and Zachary Sherrill of Catawba. She is further survived by six great-grandchildren, Jordan Tonelis (Kate), Dylan & Chase Miller, Abigail, Miller, and Molly Brannen and one great-great-grandchild, Rylan Tonelis. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.



Funeral services honoring the life of Lucille Miller will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, October 8, 2018 at Front Street Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Stutts officiating. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to the service hour.
