Annie Laurie Walsh

Mrs. Annie Laurie Gray Walsh, 88, of Statesville, passed away Friday, November 18, 2016 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Walsh was born April 3, 1928 in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late James Perry Gray, Sr. and Annie Eugene Hartsell Gray. She was a graduate of Statesville High School and Mitchell College and was married to the late Charles William Walsh, who died in 1971. She was a previous member of Forest Park Presbyterian Church and had worked as a bookkeeper for Shell Electric, Downtown Motor Court, Fraley's Grocery, Bill's Esso Station and was also co-owner of Gluttons Restaurant until her death. She is survived by two daughters, Laurie Ann Walsh Dean (Richard) of Statesville, Melanie Walsh Shippee (David) of Statesville, one son, Charles "Bill" W. Walsh, Jr. (Jennifer) of Burnsville, NC and FL; four grandchildren, Matthew William Walsh, Lauren Gray Walsh, Nicholas Gray Shippee, Annie Laurie Shippee, one great grandson Levi Michael Walsh, one sister, Ruth Gray Alexander, and two brothers, Robin Gray of Atlanta, Johnny Gray of Gaffney, SC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Michael Wadlow Walsh and two brothers, Boyd and James P. Gray, Jr. A private family service will be held Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County and online condolences may be made to the family at www.nicholsonfunerals.com Nicholson Funeral Home is serving the family of Mrs. Annie Laurie Gray Walsh.
