Annie Drum

April 8, 1921 — June 18, 2014

Ms. Annie Lou "Lukie" Drum, stepped into the arms of Jesus early Monday morning at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Her departure followed a brief and merciful illness. She lived 93 beautiful years that were full of love, happiness and servitude. Lukie was born on April 8, 1921 in Statesville and was the daughter of the late William A. Heath and Mary Heath Beaver. Also preceding her was her step-father, Hartsell W. Beaver, her husband Brather Curtis "BC" Drum and her brothers, Harry "Gordon" Heath, David Heath and William Andrew "Bill" Heath. She has many beloved surviving members. They are her daughter, Judith A. Waterman of Statesville; her son, Richard Curtis Drum of La Place, LA; her grandchildren, Elizabeth J. Clark (Mike) ad Robert William "Bill" Waterman, Jr. of Amherst, NH and Charlotte A. Herrero and Edward Curtis "Curt" Drum of Mobile, AL. Lukie also had several loving great-grandchildren and two beautiful great great grandchildren. Lukie was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She had a servant's heart and was a dedicated neighbor and church member. As an accomplished, self-taught organist and pianist, she used her musical talent to serve the Lord. She played the organ and piano for Monticello United Methodist Church for more than 60 years, from the time of its founding. Regardless of whether you knew her as Annie, Lukie, Mama or Mawmaw, you most certainly knew her as an amazing cook, beautiful, gentile, funny and full of love and grace. Though she will be terribly missed by many, it is good to know that Heaven's music just got a little sweeter, now that she's there. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Monticello United Methodist Church with Rev. Jill Reinhardt officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Monticello United Methodist Church, online at www.monticelloumc.org or by mail; 308 Island Ford Rd., Statesville, NC 28625.
