Anne Pharr

Anne Marie King Pharr, 84, of Statesville, NC passed away Monday, January 5 at Autumn Care Nursing Facility of Statesville. Anne was born in Statesville on November 23, 1930 and was the daughter of the late John Shelton King Sr. and Sadie Greenwood King. She was a graduate of Central High School. She was a seamstress and later retired from the F.W. Woolworth Co. after 23 years. She was a member of Front Street Baptist Church where she belonged to the Young at Heart and sang in the senior adult choir before her health declined. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, gardening, and camping with friends and family. She belonged to the Good Sam RV organization and was a former member of the local Good Sam chapter, the Good Sam Country Cruisers. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Grady S. Pharr Jr. of 66 years, one son, Daniel Pharr(Lillian), of New York City; one daughter, Martha Levan(Johnny), of Statesville; three grandchildren: Cara Pharr Gottheim(Ben), of Centreville, VA; Devin Pharr(Jessica), of Fultonville, NY; Kaitlyn Levan of Statesville and a great granddaughter, Brianna Carrie Gottheim. She is also survived by two brothers John Shelton King, Jr. of Statesville and James Claude King (Frances), of Forest, Va. along with many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her sister Gertrude King Benfield and her daughter-in-law Carrie Burchardt-Pharr. The family will receive friends at Nicholson Funeral Home on Friday January 9 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Services with Reverends Jeff Luxon, Marvin Boyer and Tim Stutts will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2015, at Front Street Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the Snow Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews Bobby King, Tommy King, Richard King, John Ross King, Gene Benfield, and Shelton King. Memorials may be made to the Snow Creek Cemetery Fund, PO Box 7, Statesville, NC 28687.
