Matilda Ann Houston Flouton, 61, of Statesville, lost her earthly battle with Parkinson Disease but won her fight for her Heavenly home on Friday, August 23, 2013, at the Gordon Hospice House. Mrs. Flouton was born May 23, 1952 in Iredell County and was the daughter of L.G. Houston and the late Shirley Crawford Houston. She was a graduate of South Iredell High School and on December 17, 1993, she married Frederick H. "Freddy" Flouton, who survives. Mrs. Flouton was a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church and she was formerly employed with the Statesville Record & Landmark as a paper carrier. Along with her mother, Mrs. Flouton was also preceded in death by a brother, Gary Houston and a sister, Sherry Campbell. In addition to her father, L.G. Houston and husband, Freddy Flouton, Mrs. Flouton is survived by one sister, Angie Patterson and a brother, Tim Houston, both of Statesville. She is also survived by two brother-in-laws and four sister-in-laws along with two nieces, two nephews, one grand-niece and one grand-nephew. Funeral services for Mrs. Flouton will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 27, 2013 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Canessa Stafford officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethesda Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday evening from 6:30 until 8:30 PM at the funeral home.
