Ann Adkins

Doris Ann McCorkle Williams Adkins, 91, of Statesville, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 23, 2014, at the Gordon Hospice House. Mrs. Adkins was born on September 5, 1922, in Nora, VA and was the daughter of the late Samuel Blaine McCorkle and Nancy Catherine Galloway McCorkle. Following her high school graduation, she attended the University of Tennessee. Mrs. Adkins was retired from Iredell Memorial Hospital where she worked as a secretary for the x-ray department. Mrs. Adkins is survived by two sons; Thomas F. Williams (Patricia) of Dorchester, SC and Douglas G. Williams of Statesville, along with two daughters, Catherine B. Williams of Naples, FL and Betty J. Williams of Statesville. She is also survived by one grandson, Curtis F. Gregory of Statesville and four granddaughters, Jennifer C. Fusco (Joe) of FL, April W. Church (Kevin) of Hamptonville, NC, Laura J. Gregory and Kristen W. Wiggins (JT), both of Statesville. Three great-grandsons, Logan Church, Jacob Fusco, and Maston Wiggins and three great-granddaughters, Savannah Church, Kayla Church, and McKenna Gregory also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Adkins will be conducted 12:30 PM Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Covenant ARP Church with Rev. Jeff Jacobs and Rev. Fred Legere officiating. The family will visit with friends from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM at the church. Burial will follow at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
