Allen "Buck" Deal

Mr. Espy Allen "Buck" Deal, 80, of Statesville, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville, NC. Mr. Deal was born May 30, 1931 in Iredell County and was the son of the late Rowland J. Deal and Zula Elliott Deal. He was a graduate of Celeste Henkel High School. Following graduation, Mr. Deal joined the U.S. Army. On September 3, 1954 he married Adell Caldwell Deal, who preceded him in death on November 17, 1996. Mr. Deal was retired from Uniglass Ind. after 27 years in maintenance. Following his retirement, he worked and retired from Petco/Sackner where he also worked in maintenance. He was a member of Northview Freewill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and choir director. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Deal was also preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Allen Deal along with three brothers and one sister. Mr. Deal is survived by two daughters, Jacqueline D. Pierce (Don) of Statesville and Tamara D. Shepherd (Brodrick) of West Jefferson along with one son, Michael A. Deal, Sr. (Jeannie) of Statesville. He is also survived by: One sister, Francis Deal Mayberry (Hillard) of Statesville; Eight grandchildren, Seth Pierce (Rebecca), Brian Pierce, Michael Deal, Jr., Adam Deal, Albert Deal, Tiffany Stewart, Michele Anderson and Darrell Stewart; Two step grandchildren, Bethany Shepherd and Andrew Shepherd; Five great grandsons, Shawn Pierce, Bradley Pierce, Brandon Pierce, Luke Pierce and Landon Anderson; One step great grandson, Zachary Pierce. He is also survived by a special friend, Aliene Jacobs. Mr. Deal was a loving dad to his children and grandchildren and served as a foster parent to several children. A graveside funeral service with full military honors for Mr. Deal will be conducted 2:00 pm Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Statesville, NC with Rev. Don Pierce officiating. The family will visit with friends Saturday evening from 6:30 until 8:00 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home in Statesville, NC.
